kona dew “shimergo” conversion…

Here’s another “shimgero” conversion to come out of the shop. This time, not only were the shifters swapped out, but the flat bar as well. The owner loves his bike, but didn’t like the limitations that the straight bar had been offering him for the past two years. This is the first Kona Dew that I have put a drop bar on & it looks & rides great!

Check out this post for more information on the benefits of a “shimergo” conversion.

  1. This is my bike. When I bought it, I hadn’t had a bike in a decade or so–and hadn’t had drop bars since the Carter administration! Riding every day with the flat bar and typing every day with the computer taught me about the utility of multiple hand positions. Thanks, Michael and Pete. My shoulders, wrists, and back thank you, too.

  2. How much do you think it would cost to put drop handle bars on my Kona Dew? And instead of STI shifters I want to get bar end kind, will that drop the price?
    Thank You

  3. How did you get the V-brakes to work with the road brake levers? Don’t they need more pull than the levers will give? I’m interested in putting drop bars on my Bianchi Boardwalk (very similar to the Dew) and am running into compatibility issues like this.
