Here’s a tandem wheelset I built up to go on a customer’s Burley tandem.

Before. Then, prest-o-change-o!

After! They are 48 hole Phil Wood tandem hubs laced up to Velocity Chukker rims with Wheelsmith DB spokes in a four-cross lacing.

These things are strong & built to last!

I did not realize Phil had finished painted hubs. The lacing must have taken great care. (Finished spokes were a B.M.X. rage in the 80’s.) How close were the rims to the hubs in color?
Also, what rim strips are you using at the B.S.? What do you recommend for we “fatties” and tandem riders?
Hey, Ross…
The white was a $65 option per hub.
The rims match the hubs very closely.
I use Velox cloth rim tape. I used 22mm wide tape for these rims as they are nice & wide & stout!
